A 110-unit affordable rental development is now underway in Brentwood Bay along West Saanich Road at Verdier Avenue in Central Saanich, with a daycare component that will usher in the first such mixed-use undertaking by the Capital Region Housing Corporation (CRHC) as developer, Citified has learned.
The six-storey apartment complex (view

The Capital Regional District’s CRHC says that incorporating a daycare operation within one of its social housing projects is an emerging concept, one that will add management of a commercial childcare space at the Verdier Avenue site to an otherwise all-residential portfolio. Similar commercial pursuits are expected at other CRHC projects.
Central Saanich, meanwhile, is hitting well above its weight in terms of housing growth, having overseen the delivery of numerous high density rental and condominium projects over the last decade, including multiple projects along Central Saanich Road in Brentwood Bay’s commercial centre, at the former Marigold Nursery lands, and in the Saanichton town centre.
