I think we're slowly leaving that horrid architectural nonsense behind us.

No river rock indeed. Other "stone like" or brick cladding is allowed on lower floors from what I understand.
The building has "Nichiha" brand "Sandstone" colour sidding on the ground floor and some of the same brand "Illumination" series on the facade, hence the cleaner look.
Exterior is almost complete. Interior is complete.

Hmm, actually not too bad. I like the materials and colours. Better than my (admittedly low) expectations!
