If at first you don't succeed, then try, try, try, try....
Perseverance. Okay, so we didn't succeed the first several times. Why should that prevent us from not succeeding several more times?
Nah, seriously, I'd contribute a box of donuts out of my own pocket if the project across from Tillicum Mall would switch to that kind of massing instead of the widescraper they want to build there.
Langford council has approved a large new development in its downtown core that would see two towers rise 13 and 22 storeys and provide about 300 housing units.
It isn’t the first time rezoning for buildings of those heights and density have been approved, but it’s the first for the current council after it refreshed Langford’s Official Community Plan.
It says it’s implementing policy guard rails to avoid problems surrounding stalled and cancelled projects that have left holes in the ground and derelict neighbourhoods in the core.
“This one is on us,” said Mayor Scott Goodmanson at a council meeting on Monday.
The rezoning is for properties along the 2600 blocks of Sunderland and Peatt roads, just steps from the site of the Langford Gateway project, which was supposed to deliver a pair of towers, but is now under a court-ordered sale.
