The two-tower project will rise from the location of The Highlander, a 14-storey residential tower that saw the construction of four levels prior to its cancellation in 2009. In 2020 crews began removing the former foundation in preparation for One Bear Mountain's construction.

I'm not a fan of wide buildings but to me it's a real puzzler why a building of this same basic flavour wouldn't have been a slam dunk at the roundhouse at least a decade ago. Chop the width down by a third and add 5-10 levels on top... done deal.
It even has the strong horizontal lines that I'm not crazy about but which Victorians and their city planners claim to love.
